Major Milestone: 
BT has reported what it describes as "acceptable" quarterly results, with profits sharply higher despite a fall in revenue. The focus on cost cutting helped the telecom giant recorded profit hike of 17% for the past three months despite a dip in revenue. BT said "Capital spending at its infrastructure arm, Openreach jumped 16% as its fibre roll-out continued. In July we achieved the first major milestone in our fibre roll-out passing over 1.5 million UK premises, and we are now running at an average rate of around 100,000 premises passed per week." Improved Financial Results: BT's chief executive Ian Livingston said, "We have made an acceptable start to the year, delivering improved financial results while investing in the future of the business." He added, "Despite the challenging environment, these financial results underpin our outlook for the full year." He further added, "In TV we are offering great value premium sports packages and can now compete on a more even playing field." BT recently has signed a deal with Sky that allows BT Vision customers to watch Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2.
