Fring Gets Disconnected From Skype

Mobile communications software company Fring, announced that Skype is no longer allowing it access to its services despite four years of successful interconnectivity between the two following threat of legal action. Avi Shechter, Fring's Co-Founder and CEO said, "We are disappointed that Skype, who once championed the cause of openness, is now attempting to muzzle competition, even to the detriment of its own users." He also said, <"We apologize to our users for the impact of Skype's bullying and we will be happy to reconnect with Skype once Skype reverses their decision." Avi continued, "We believe in communication openness and know that users will continue to vote with their mobile phones - opting for Fring's innovation, clarity, honesty and openness." 

The issue isn't with competition but rather how Fring was using Skype's API, which it claims was being used "in a way it wasn't designed" and was in breach of various usage and licensing agreements. This alleged misuse, Skype claims, was "increasingly damaging our brand and reputation with our customers", according to Skype's legal VP Robert Miller. Skype claims that this action is due to Fring's mobile video calling on iPhone 4 launch.  Fring temporarily disconnected Skype in order to deal with onslaught data overload.
